Editorial Policy & Corrections

Wakefield 365 aims to be steady, current and dependable. We organise information so readers can return to it throughout the year, and we check time-sensitive details before presenting them as current wherever practical.

What we cover

We publish guides to local businesses, restaurant recommendations, shopping, attractions, events and everyday services. We aim to explain what an option offers, where it is and which details readers should verify before making plans.

Wakefield city and Wakefield District

Wakefield city is the largest settlement and administrative centre of Wakefield District. The district also includes separate towns such as Normanton, Pontefract, Castleford, Featherstone, Knottingley, Ossett, Horbury, Hemsworth, South Kirkby and South Elmsall. They are not neighbourhoods of Wakefield city. We label them as district locations when relevant.

Within the city, Westgate, Kirkgate, the Waterfront, Agbrigg, Belle Vue, Sandal, Lupset, Flanshaw, Alverthorpe, Wrenthorpe, Stanley, Outwood, Eastmoor and Pinderfields have distinct settings. Pontefract Castle and Racecourse are in Pontefract; Xscape Yorkshire and Junction 32 are in Glasshoughton near Castleford. Yorkshire Sculpture Park is at West Bretton, and the National Coal Mining Museum is near Overton. Nostell Priory is a separate estate attraction. We do not present these places as city-centre venues.

Wakefield Council is the local authority for the district. West Yorkshire Police and the West Yorkshire transport bodies have wider regional responsibilities; West Yorkshire and neighbouring local authorities are not interchangeable. Pinderfields Hospital is in Wakefield, while Pontefract Hospital serves a distinct town and area. We identify the relevant institution and location.

Wakefield Westgate and Wakefield Kirkgate are separate railway stations serving different parts of the city. District stations likewise have their own locations and services. The FreeCityBus has provided a city-centre link, but operation and routes can change. We check current operator and council guidance rather than treating past arrangements as permanent.

Sources and changing details

Where practical, we use sources close to the subject, including a business’s own information, Wakefield Council, NHS information, venue and organiser pages, transport operators and relevant public bodies. Businesses, market arrangements, opening hours, prices, transport, parking, event programmes, healthcare services, development projects and venue access can change. We check current details where feasible and encourage readers to confirm important information directly.

We do not invent businesses, ratings, customer feedback, prices, opening hours, event dates or service coverage. We distinguish planned proposals from delivered projects and do not describe a transport concept as operational without current confirmation. We avoid unsupported claims about safety, health outcomes, property values, school quality, demographics or individual organisations.

For health, legal, financial or urgent matters, we provide general signposting only and direct readers to qualified professionals or official sources. Event listings are subject to change and should be confirmed with the organiser.

Recommendations and commercial relationships

A listing or recommendation is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify it clearly. Commercial arrangements do not by themselves determine our editorial view.

Corrections

To report a possible error, email [email protected]. Include the page address, the detail in question and a reliable source if possible. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; substantial corrections may be identified on the page.

A request does not automatically require removal or amendment. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.

Scope

Our guides are selective, not a complete directory. Inclusion is not a guarantee of quality, availability or suitability, and absence is not criticism. Confirm important details with the relevant organisation before making a decision.
